Bronze Medal Winner

Mallory's team came together in the end to win the Bronze medal round. Rachel's and Taylor's teams lost in the first and second rounds of the Gold medal rounds for their age group. I forgot to take my camera today so I didn't get any pictures until I got home and took the above picture of Mallory and her medal.

Two Long Days in Williamsburg

Mallory, Rachel and Taylor have a two day tournament in Williamsburg this weekend. Today, I only got a couple of pictures of Taylor, no good ones of Rachel and lots of Mallory. Mallory's team went undefeated today, Rachel's team only lost one match and Taylor team, only lost 2 games. Finals results for today haven't been posted yet.

Opening Day

This was the only picture I got of Bailey all day.
Her exhibition game was at the same time as
Natalie's so I didn't get to see her play today.
Mallory gave her sunglasses to Natalie since they matched her uniform.
My youngest and oldest enjoy the day together.
I braided Mallory's hair while we waited for the festivities to
start. It took me ten years to figure out how to French braid.
Waiting for the team picture was boring.
Individual pictures were first.
Natalie was very stiff for this picture.
Then she didn't want to participate in the team picture at all.
She would not wear her hat at all.
This was the best I could do to get her into the picture.
She seems excited here, so who knows.

Exhibition Game

Natalie was supposed to play third base, but she was not cooperating.
She moved from the base, to the bleachers, to the dugout.
She was telling me she wanted a snow cone.
Each kid gets three chances to hit a pitched ball.
Natalie swung too early, see the ball?
She didn't swing at this one at all.
Good swing, but where the ball?
If a kid doesn't hit a pitched ball, they get to hit off the tee.
Natalie's first attempt, was a good hit, but foul.
Then she hit the tee.
Then she hit the ball, not very far, but far enough.
Natalie was very excited to make it home.

Change is in the Air

Day 1 - With the coming of spring, comes the changing of hair color.
Day 3 - Rachel is working on her next shade of hair color.
Next week, she plans on going to a light brown for her spring color.

Orange Brusters

Bailey will be playing fast pitch softball again this spring.
She's excited to get started.
She'd like to learn how to pitch.
She's ready to go out slugging too.

Ready for T-Ball

Natalie is playing t-ball this spring.
Opening day is this Saturday.
Her cleats are so small and very cute.

First Track Meet 2008

This year, Taylor is trying a new event.
Raking the sand pit for the long jump?
Nope, actual long jumping.
After having just learned last week,
she won first place with a distance of 12'3"
Then, onto the mile, last year's event.
As long distance manager, here she helps runners get into place.
On your mark, get set, go.
Taylor didn't win, but came in with a time of 6:44.

Almost Stranded in TX

Last week, I flew down to Texas on my first business trip since the summer of 1999. My flight was on an American Airlines MD-80. I worked there two days and then I was supposed to fly home on another American Airlines MD-80. Does anyone see where this is heading? American Airlines canceled all MD-80 flights for the day I was to fly home and had the two previous days also. I got to the airport and got into line with all of the other passengers trying to get home. My cell phone battery was almost dead so I was turning it off between making calls. I called Joe to tell him that I might not be getting home that day. I called the office to see if they could call the corporate travel office to see if they could get me home on another airline. The best the travel office could do was 6:30am the next morning. I stayed in line. When I got to the front of the line, the very nice ticket agent transferred my tickets to a Continental flight leaving later that morning. We stopped in Houston and were delayed an hour because of bad weather. Once we got on the plane, we were delayed another 30 minutes because someone had parked their truck behind the plane and left it without any keys. They had to find someone with keys to move the truck. Who parks their truck behind a plane at the airport? The garbage man. The flight home was smooth and I finally got into my car about 2 hours later then I should have, but at least I was home. Some of the passengers who flew out that day had been stranded at the airport for up to two days. Check out my knitting page for all of the knitting I got done when on travel.

Make-up?

Natalie got into some fingernail polish and used it as eye make-up.
She's done this before and it will wear off on its own.
The polish is too close to her eyes to try and use anything to remove it.
